Shift Chemist

About the role

The Shift Chemist ensures the efficient operation of a water‑treatment plant, conducts water and effluent analysis, and monitors boiler chemistry at a power generation site. Working closely with the Plant Chemist, the role supports reliable and compliant plant performance.

Key responsibilities

• Perform daily analysis of raw water, wastewater, treatment‑plant water, boiler water, steam, cooling‑tower water and closed‑loop cooling systems.
• Operate the water‑treatment plant, including production and regeneration cycles.
• Collect lubricant and oil samples from plant equipment for laboratory testing.
• Supervise unloading of chemicals from vendors and manage personal protective equipment.
• Issue confined‑space entry and gas‑free certificates as required.
• Raise work orders for preventive and corrective maintenance.
• Travel domestically and internationally as needed.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Chemistry or a related field.
• 3–5 years of experience in a similar role at a combined‑cycle power plant or petrochemical facility.
• Familiarity with GE F‑Class technology or comparable combined‑cycle systems is preferred.
• Strong understanding of occupational health & safety, environmental regulations and chemical handling.
