Senior Mechanical Engineer

About the role

Almas Aluminum is seeking a full‑time Senior Mechanical Engineer to lead mechanical design activities for aluminum products and production systems. Based on‑site in Sulaymaniyah, you will drive concept development, detailed engineering and optimisation of existing designs within a modern manufacturing environment.

Key responsibilities

• Lead mechanical design from concept to detailed engineering for aluminium products and production equipment.
• Prepare and review 3D CAD models and technical drawings, select appropriate materials and components.
• Ensure designs comply with relevant standards, safety regulations and company quality requirements.
• Collaborate with production, quality and procurement teams to support manufacturing, troubleshoot technical issues and improve process efficiency.
• Manage engineering projects, coordinate timelines and resources, and report progress to stakeholders.
• Mentor junior engineers and contribute to R&D initiatives for new products and technologies.

Required profile

• Strong foundation in Mechanical Engineering with experience in industrial or manufacturing environments.
• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related field.
• Knowledge of manufacturing processes, materials engineering and international standards (e.g., ISO, ASTM) is highly beneficial.
• Excellent problem‑solving abilities, attention to detail and sound engineering judgement under time constraints.
• Effective communication skills in a multicultural setting and ability to work with both technical and non‑technical stakeholders.
