About the role
The General Cashier is responsible for accurate handling, recording, safeguarding, and reconciliation of all cash and cash‑equivalent transactions within a star‑class hotel. You will ensure that daily collections are properly accounted for, deposited on time, and fully compliant with hotel financial policies.
Key responsibilities
- Collect, verify, count and reconcile daily cash, cheques, credit cards and other payments from all hotel outlets.
- Prepare daily cash summaries and ensure timely bank deposits.
- Record cash receipts, petty cash transactions and cash advances with proper documentation.
- Perform daily reconciliations against Opera, Micros and other hotel system reports.
- Investigate cash discrepancies, shortages or overages and report findings to finance leadership.
- Maintain and control the Petty Cash Fund, preparing reimbursement requests and supporting schedules.
- Safeguard cash, cheque books, foreign currency and negotiable instruments.
- Assist month‑end closing with cash‑related reconciliations and schedules.
- Coordinate with Front Office, F&B, Accounts Receivable and other departments to ensure accurate revenue recording.
- Support internal and external auditors with cash transaction documentation.
Required profile
- Minimum 2 years experience as a General Cashier or Cashier in a star‑class hotel finance department.
- Hospitality industry experience is mandatory.
- Advanced English reading, writing and speaking skills.
- Strong analytical, problem‑solving and attention‑to‑detail abilities.
