Adjunct Faculty – Visual & Performing Arts (Open Rank)

About the role

AUIB is looking for qualified artists and scholars to join its Visual and Performing Arts faculty on an open‑rank basis. The position involves teaching introductory core liberal‑arts courses and helping to expand the university’s arts curriculum, with a focus on studio art, art history, music, theatre, film and media.

Key responsibilities

• Teach assigned arts courses using active, student‑centered and inclusive methods across studio, performance and lecture formats.
• Prepare syllabi, course materials and assessments that align with program learning outcomes.
• Identify and request equipment, materials and facilities needed for studio or performance classes.
• Evaluate student work fairly and promptly, providing constructive feedback through critiques and reviews.
• Hold regular office hours for mentorship and academic assistance.
• Contribute to the development of new courses and co‑curricular arts activities such as exhibitions, performances and student ensembles.

Required profile

• Understanding of the American higher‑education system and its processes.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
• Active professional creative practice (exhibitions, performances, productions) alongside a commitment to teaching.
• Ability to engage students of diverse backgrounds and experience levels.
• Capacity to simplify complex ideas and foster active learning.
