Accounting Manager

About the role

The Accounting Manager will lead the day‑to‑day accounting function for a diversified business group operating across multiple sectors in Iraq. Reporting to senior finance leadership, the role ensures accurate financial records, timely reporting, strong controls and compliance with Iraqi regulations.

Key responsibilities

• Manage overall accounting operations, including AP, AR, general ledger, bank reconciliations and fixed assets.
• Review journal entries, accruals, provisions and month‑end/year‑end closing activities.
• Prepare monthly, quarterly and annual financial reports, management accounts and variance analysis.
• Oversee multi‑entity accounting, inter‑company reconciliations and support group consolidation.
• Support budgeting, forecasting and monitor performance against budgets.
• Establish and maintain effective accounting controls, identify risks and recommend corrective actions.
• Coordinate internal and external audits, prepare required schedules and ensure compliance with Iraqi tax and statutory requirements.
• Monitor daily cash positions, banking transactions and working‑capital metrics.

Required profile

• Proven experience managing accounting functions in a multi‑entity environment.
• Strong knowledge of Iraqi accounting standards and regulatory requirements.
• Ability to work closely with senior management, auditors and various business units.
• Analytical mindset with attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
