Teaching Assistant – College of Arts & Sciences

About the role

The Teaching Assistant (TA) supports undergraduate instruction within the College of Arts & Sciences by assisting faculty with course delivery, student engagement, and academic support activities. Working under departmental supervision, the TA enhances the overall learning experience through instructional assistance, tutoring, and assessment support.

Key responsibilities

• Attend assigned classes and assist faculty with in‑class learning activities and student engagement.
• Conduct recitation sessions, tutoring, office hours, or group activities to reinforce course concepts.
• Evaluate assignments, quizzes, exams, and projects using faculty‑provided rubrics.
• Help prepare examinations, organize course materials, and coordinate course‑related administrative tasks.
• Participate in departmental meetings, TA training sessions, and other required academic support activities.

Required profile

• Solid understanding of the relevant undergraduate discipline.
• Ability to explain material clearly, engage students constructively, and collaborate with faculty.
• Patience, approachability, and commitment to student learning.
• Strong organizational skills, ability to meet deadlines, and professional demeanor.
• Integrity, discretion, and adherence to academic and institutional standards.
