About the role
UNICEF is seeking a Social Behaviour Change Officer to join its National UN Volunteer Specialist team in Iraq. The role supports UNICEF’s long‑term commitment to improve the lives of children and young people across the country, working within the framework of the UNICEF Strategic Plan 2018‑2021.
Key responsibilities
- Collaborate with UNICEF country offices in Basra, Baghdad, Erbil and Dohuk to design and implement social‑behaviour‑change initiatives for vulnerable children and youth.
- Partner with the Iraqi Federal Government, UN agencies, international and national NGOs to align interventions with national priorities.
- Contribute to advocacy and communication efforts that raise awareness of children’s rights and promote positive behavioural outcomes.
Required profile
- Demonstrated experience in humanitarian or development programmes focused on children, youth or community behaviour change.
- Familiarity with the Iraqi context and ability to work with diverse stakeholders.
- Strong commitment to UNICEF’s mission of realizing the rights of every child.
