Senior Trade Compliance Documents Officer

About the role

The Compliance Department of Region Trade Bank for Investment and Finance is looking for a detail‑oriented Senior Trade Compliance Documents Officer. You will ensure that all international trade documentation meets the Central Bank of Iraq regulations, global trade standards, and the bank’s internal policies.

Key responsibilities

• Review and verify commercial invoices, bills of lading (ocean, air, road), packing lists, certificates of origin and other trade documents.
• Validate documentary credit transactions against ICC rules, including UCP 600 and ISBP.
• Conduct sanctions screening and due‑diligence on importers, exporters, shipping companies, vessels, containers and goods.
• Research vessels, shipping routes and container movements to identify compliance risks.
• Check product classification using HS Codes and flag potential trade compliance issues.
• Monitor updates from OFAC, UN, EU, UK and other sanctions authorities.
• Ensure adherence to Central Bank of Iraq regulations for international transfers and trade finance.
• Escalate suspicious activities to the Money Laundering Reporting Officer (MLRO) and prepare related compliance reports.
• Maintain accurate records of all reviewed documents and investigations.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Banking, Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, Law, International Trade, Logistics or a related field.
• 2–4 years of experience in trade finance, international trade operations, trade compliance or banking operations.
• Professional certifications in trade finance, AML/CFT or ICC trade finance are a plus.

Required skills

• Strong knowledge of international trade documentation and shipping documents.
• Understanding of ICC publications governing documentary credits, especially UCP 600 and ISBP.
• Familiarity with international sanctions regimes (OFAC, UN, EU, UK) and screening procedures.
• Proficiency in HS Code classification and trade compliance risk assessment.
