About the role
Global Rights Compliance is seeking a Senior Legal Adviser to join its International Team supporting the Iraq programme. The adviser will provide independent legal expertise to develop investigative guidance, ensure the legal soundness of analytical outputs, and advise on international law standards.
Key responsibilities
- Lead design and implementation of new project activities, ensuring delivery against objectives.
- Review and provide legal input on investigative guidance, protocols, SOPs and analytical reports.
- Offer legal advice on specific questions arising from investigations and analyses.
- Identify legal gaps or risks in methodologies and recommend improvements.
- Liaise with beneficiaries, accountability mechanisms and external stakeholders to ensure coordination.
- Develop and refine internal guidance documents, templates and frameworks.
- Deliver training, briefings or mentoring on legal aspects of investigative work.
- Support monitoring, reporting and contribute to future activity planning.
Required profile
- Advanced degree in law (LL.M. or equivalent) with expertise in international humanitarian or human rights law.
- Minimum 7 years of experience providing legal advice in complex, conflict‑affected environments.
- Proven experience reviewing investigative protocols and analytical products for evidentiary standards.
- Ability to work remotely and travel to Duhok when security permits.
