Senior Instrument and Telecommunication Engineer

About the role

Geo-Jade Petroleum’s South Basra Integrated Project is seeking a senior‑level Instrument and Telecommunication Engineer to join the Facilities & Construction team in Basra, Iraq. The position operates on a daily/rotation basis and is responsible for technical review, design compliance, and construction support across oil‑and‑gas facilities.

Key responsibilities

• Review and approve critical instrument and telecommunication deliverables from PMC/EPC contractors, including PFDs, P&IDs, GA drawings, 3D models, and field instrument datasheets.
• Ensure designs comply with company specifications, international codes (API, IEEE, ITU, NFPA, ISO, ISA) and Iraqi authority requirements.
• Participate in Process Hazard Analyses (HAZID, HAZOP, SIL, LOPA, F&G mapping) and track closure of recommendations.
• Lead technical studies, alternative schemes, and debottlenecking analyses for existing facilities.
• Provide engineering support during construction, pre‑commissioning, commissioning and performance testing, including review of procedures and witnessing key tests.
• Manage engineering change requests, technical queries and site deviation requests, assessing impacts on safety, cost and schedule.
• Supervise PMC and EPC contractor deliverables through regular meetings, reviews and site inspections.
• Coordinate with internal teams (Operations, Maintenance, HSE, IT, Process, Civil, Electrical, Pipeline) to ensure seamless interface management.

Required profile

• Iraqi national with at least 10 years of solid oil & gas experience.
• Proven senior‑level expertise in instrument and telecommunication engineering.
• Strong knowledge of international standards and local regulatory requirements.
• Experience in leading hazard analyses and technical studies.
