Workover Engineering Section Head

About the role

The Workover Engineering Section Head will lead the design and delivery of safe, effective workover and completion solutions for the Tuba oil field development. Reporting to the Workover Manager, the role works closely with multi‑cultural teams, contractors and service providers on a rotation basis in Basra, Iraq.

Key responsibilities

• Allocate resources and provide technical leadership for 2+ workover rigs, delivering 20+ workovers per year.
• Review and approve complex workover programs, ensuring compliance with corporate policy, local law and international standards.
• Act as Contract Accountable Manager for key contracts, leading tender preparation, review and post‑contract performance.
• Provide 24/7 support for well control, well integrity and complex operations, and lead problem‑solving sessions with delivery teams.
• Mentor and train local and junior engineers, enhancing staff competency and safety culture.

Required profile

• Minimum 15 years of wells experience in onshore E&P or major service provider environments.
• Proven track record leading technical evaluation teams for tender assessments.
• Strong communication, mentoring and team‑player skills in a fast‑paced, high‑volume setting.

Required skills

• Workover and completion engineering, rig equipment, well control, well killing, well integrity repairs.
• Water shut‑off, ESP installation, slickline, E‑line, acidizing, hydraulic fracturing, coiled tubing operations.
• Fluids and hydraulics software, log interpretation, QA/QC of technical calculations.
• Contract management, tender generation, contractor performance review.
