Senior Accountant

About the role

We are seeking a full‑time Senior Accountant to join our finance team in Erbil. The role will lead day‑to‑day accounting operations, ensure accurate month‑end and year‑end closings, and provide financial insights to support business decisions.

Key responsibilities

• Record transactions, maintain general ledger accounts, and reconcile bank, payable and receivable balances.
• Prepare financial statements, balance sheets, income statements and cash‑flow reports.
• Execute month‑end and year‑end closing processes on schedule.
• Support budgeting, forecasting and variance analysis activities.
• Monitor expenses, analyze financial performance against targets and recommend improvements.
• Ensure compliance with Iraqi accounting standards, tax regulations and internal policies.
• Coordinate with external auditors and implement internal control enhancements.
• Supervise junior accounting staff and collaborate with cross‑functional teams.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or related field; CPA, ACCA or CMA preferred.
• Significant experience in senior accounting roles, preferably within the retail sector.
• Strong knowledge of Iraqi tax regulations and local accounting standards.
• Fluent in Arabic and English, both written and spoken.
• High ethical standards, confidentiality and commitment to inclusive workplace practices.
