Senior Accountant (Baghdad)

About the role

Arla is seeking a proactive Senior Accountant to join its Baghdad team. The role focuses on accurate financial reporting, strong internal controls, and compliance with both local and group accounting standards. You will work closely with finance, tax and audit functions to support the company’s operations in Iraq.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and review financial statements and manage the general ledger.
• Lead month‑end and year‑end close processes.
• Oversee accounts receivable, revenue recognition and cash management.
• Control accounts payable, expense processing and treasury activities.
• Perform balance‑sheet reconciliations and maintain internal controls.
• Handle marketing claims, trade promotions, deductions and intercompany transactions.
• Support audit, tax and regulatory compliance.
• Supervise ERP and other financial systems.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or a related discipline.
• Minimum 5 years of relevant accounting experience.
• Strong analytical abilities with high attention to detail.
• Service‑oriented, well‑organized and able to manage multiple priorities independently.
• High integrity and strong interpersonal skills.
• Fluency in English.

Required skills

• Proficiency in MS Office.
• Experience with SharePoint (preferred).
• Familiarity with ERP systems and financial reporting tools.
