Research and Program Officer

About the role

Roya Development Group is looking for a Research & Program Officer to join its Baghdad office. The role supports donor‑funded projects by overseeing data collection, analysis, and monitoring & evaluation activities while producing high‑quality political and development insights.

Key responsibilities

• Manage overall data collection, analysis, and M&E functions for assigned projects.
• Plan, execute, and monitor research initiatives, coordinating with team members and external stakeholders.
• Develop research plans and tools, conduct interviews and focus‑group discussions, and analyse gathered information.
• Draft assessments and reports in English and Arabic, incorporating input from colleagues.
• Monitor Iraqi political developments aligned with client priorities.
• Organise events and program activities, liaise with vendors, and prepare agendas and facilitation guides.
• Lead social media and external communications efforts.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in political science, sociology, or a related field (Master’s preferred).
• 4+ years of experience with a research firm, international organization, or civil‑society entity on relevant topics.
• Experience with qualitative data analysis, research tool development, data collection, and interviewing.
• Focus‑group facilitation skills are desirable.
• Proven ability to write analytical reports for English‑speaking audiences.
• Excellent verbal and written communication in both Arabic and English.
• Experience with donor‑funded projects, preferably from US, UK, or EU donors.
