PTW Coordinator – Permit to Work Specialist (Expat)

About the role

The Permit to Work (PTW) Coordinator will manage the PTW system for safe execution of maintenance, construction and operational activities at our Basra site. This expatriate position works closely with operations, engineering and contractor teams to ensure all work is properly authorized and controlled.

Key responsibilities

• Administer and coordinate the PTW system, reviewing, validating and issuing work permits.
• Manage permit extensions, suspensions and close‑out while maintaining accurate records.
• Verify completion of safety controls, gas testing and LOTO before work starts.
• Monitor simultaneous operations (SIMOPS) and resolve potential conflicts.
• Conduct permit audits, site inspections and compliance checks.
• Investigate non‑conformances, support incident investigations and drive corrective actions.
• Provide training and coaching on PTW procedures and hazard identification.
• Prepare performance reports, compliance statistics and audit findings.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree or diploma in Safety Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or a related technical discipline.
• 3–5 years of experience managing PTW or Control of Work (CoW) systems in Oil & Gas, Petrochemical, Energy or Process industries.
• Proven experience supporting live operating facilities and coordinating maintenance, construction and operational work.
• Demonstrated ability to coordinate SIMOPS in a multi‑disciplinary environment.
