Protection Officer-General (Part-Time) – Anbar

About the role

The Danish Refugee Council is seeking a Protection Officer‑General on a part‑time basis to support partner activities in Anbar, Iraq. Working under the Protection Team Leader, the officer will ensure that case‑management and legal‑aid services delivered by partners meet DRC standards and donor requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Support planning and oversight of partner‑led protection activities, ensuring alignment with DRC SOPs and ECHO donor guidelines.
• Provide technical guidance, coaching and supervision to partner staff on case management, legal aid processes and safe referral mechanisms.
• Review partner case‑management practices, ensuring confidentiality, data protection and adherence to protection principles.
• Assist partners in establishing secure case documentation systems, trackers and data‑protection protocols.
• Guide development and use of tools, SOPs and workflows for case management and legal‑aid service delivery.
• Facilitate partner‑led protection assessments, monitoring and analysis without direct DRC field data collection.
• Strengthen partner capacity through identification of gaps, capacity‑development planning and coordination with legal‑aid actors.
• Review partner workplans to ensure realistic planning and alignment with programme objectives.
• Promote mainstreaming of protection principles, including Age, Gender and Diversity standards, and support escalation of high‑risk cases.

Required profile

• Experience in humanitarian protection, case management and legal‑aid services.
• Ability to provide technical guidance and mentorship to partner staff.
• Strong knowledge of protection standards, confidentiality and data‑protection protocols.
• Familiarity with Age, Gender and Diversity (AGD) considerations in programme design.
• Excellent coordination skills to work with multiple partners and stakeholders.
