Operation Technology Project Manager

About the role

Wood is recruiting an Operation Technology Project Manager for its Iraq business unit, leading OT modernization, obsolescence and digital transformation projects across gas facilities on a 28/28 rotation. This is a full-time on-site role in Basra, Iraq with travel requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Lead OT modernization, obsolescence and digital transformation projects across gas facilities.
• Perform Project Engineer and Project Manager functions, overseeing scope, schedule, budget, resources, risks and project delivery.
• Develop and implement lifecycle, migration, technology refresh and obsolescence mitigation strategies for DCS, SIS, PLC, SCADA, telecommunications and industrial network systems.
• Manage project budgets, forecasting, cost control, contracts and change management.
• Build relationships with clients, operations teams, EPC contractors, OEMs and key stakeholders.
• Lead multidisciplinary teams and give technical direction during design, implementation, commissioning, start-up and handover.
• Drive cybersecurity and compliance initiatives aligned with IEC 62443, company standards and industry best practice.
• Develop and mentor local national personnel through training, knowledge transfer, competency development and succession planning, supporting localization goals.

Required profile

• Minimum Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Automation, Instrumentation & Control or a related discipline.
• Minimum 15 years of Oil & Gas industry experience.
• Proven experience delivering OT, automation, control systems, digital transformation and obsolescence management projects in EPC, EPCM, PMC or Owner Operator environments.
• Demonstrated leadership in developing talent and supporting nationalization programs.
• Proven track record delivering complex multidisciplinary projects while keeping operations running, meeting cybersecurity compliance, cost performance and asset reliability.

Required skills

• Strong knowledge of DCS, SIS, PLC, SCADA, industrial networks, telecommunications, virtualization and OT cybersecurity.
• Working knowledge of IEC 62443, IEC 61511, ISA-95 and the NIST Cybersecurity Framework.
• Experience managing project budgets, schedules, contracts and stakeholder relationships.
