Nurse - School Health and Safety

About the role

Meltho International School in Erbil, part of the SABIS educational network, is looking for a nurse to support the school's health and safety work. The role ensures that first aid and emergency medical procedures are strictly followed in incidents involving students and staff, and covers the school clinic and hygiene programs.

Key responsibilities

• Ensure strict implementation of first aid and emergency medical procedures in all incidents involving students and staff.
• Establish, implement and document a comprehensive school health and hygiene program, including a personal hygiene program for students.
• Run a systematic, documented health inspection program to reduce the risk of illness or epidemics.
• Maintain up-to-date health records for all students and follow up on absences due to health conditions or injuries.
• Keep parents informed of potential health or injury incidents involving their children.
• Make sure the school clinic is equipped to handle minor injuries and moderate illness, and standardize clinic procedures.
• Advise management on preventive health and safety measures and deliver health-related reports when requested.
• Check that cafeteria staff hold valid health clearances and hygiene standards under Ministry of Health regulations.
• Display health and safety tips and articles, and help communicate students' special medical needs with parents.
• Attend school meetings as required and carry out other delegated tasks.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Nursing or a related field.
• English proficiency.
• CPR and First Aid certification.
• Knowledge of Ministry of Health regulations and school health policies.
