Market Systems Development Specialist (Ninewa)

About the role

The Market Systems Development Specialist will lead the design and implementation of inclusive market systems interventions for the Sustainable and Resilient Future – Ninewa project. Working under World Vision’s Markets for Communities approach, the specialist will strengthen linkages between producers, private‑sector actors and public institutions to promote efficient, sustainable and inclusive markets.

Key responsibilities

• Provide technical leadership on market systems and value‑chain analysis for the Ninewa project.
• Map and connect smallholder producers and saving groups with key market players, including private, public and financial institutions.
• Develop training materials and manuals for managing agricultural and non‑agricultural enterprises, collection centres and value‑chain improvements.
• Identify and support niche commercialization opportunities such as high‑value crops and off‑farm activities.
• Design and implement data‑collection tools to monitor intervention outcomes, including volume and value of marketed products.
• Conduct follow‑up visits, assess progress, and ensure quality assurance across all economic‑development activities.
• Build capacity of project staff and partners on market‑systems development and harmonise monitoring tools.

Required profile

• Highly qualified and motivated professional with experience in market‑systems development and inclusive market interventions.
• Proven ability to work closely with livelihood staff, saving groups and financial institutions, including micro‑finance providers.
• Strong analytical skills for stakeholder mapping, value‑chain analysis and market assessment.
