Kidney Transplant Surgeon

About the role

Imam Zain Al-Abidin Hospital, a teaching hospital in Karbala, Iraq, is hiring a full-time, on-site Specialist Kidney Transplant Surgeon. The surgeon evaluates, manages and performs surgical procedures for patients needing renal replacement therapy through transplantation, working closely with nephrologists, urologists, immunologists and intensive care teams.

Key responsibilities

• Evaluate donors and recipients for transplantation
• Perform kidney procurement and transplant procedures
• Manage post-operative recovery and surgical complications
• Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams to provide high-standard patient care

Required profile

• Board certification or fellowship in Renal Transplantation / Transplant Surgery (e.g. Arab Board, Iraqi Board, FRCS or equivalent)
• 3 to 5 years of clinical experience after obtaining the board or fellowship
• Proven surgical mastery of kidney procurement, open renal transplantation and post-transplant complications
• Excellent clinical decision-making under critical and emergent conditions
• Strong reporting and communication skills
• Professional proficiency in spoken and written Arabic and strong command of English
