IOF Analyst (Intelligent Oil Field) – Onsite

About the role

The Intelligent Oil Field (IOF) Analyst will design and validate secure, DMZ‑compliant methods to export OT/IoT data from air‑gapped oil‑field equipment into a data lake for digital‑twin and AI analytics. The role is field‑based in Basra and requires close collaboration with operations, cybersecurity and network teams.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct sensor inventory and offline validation while preserving live control system integrity.
• Define and test secure extraction workflows, including edge‑gateway configuration, buffering, uni‑directional data‑diode transfers, scheduled exports and DMZ handoff procedures.
• Specify and validate edge‑gateway hardware/software and protocol bridging (Modbus, OPC‑UA, MQTT) to meet DMZ policies.
• Validate timestamp integrity, sampling rhythm, units and completeness for batch transfers; design reconciliation and eventual‑consistency checks.
• Produce integration specifications, data schemas, acceptance criteria and handover packets for the data‑lake ingestion team.
• Troubleshoot field device connectivity and develop remediation plans compliant with OT change‑control.
• Coordinate with operations to schedule permitted windows and ensure HSE/permit‑to‑work compliance.
• Train operations and maintenance personnel on safe, repeatable DMZ handoff procedures.

Required profile

• Degree in Instrumentation, Control, Electrical, Computer Engineering or a related field.
• 5+ years of experience in oil & gas instrumentation, SCADA/DCS, or process control, preferably under DMZ/air‑gapped constraints.
• Practical knowledge of industrial protocols (Modbus, OPC‑UA, MQTT) and secure OT‑to‑IT transfer patterns (data diodes, DMZ, jump kits).
• Experience working with OT cybersecurity and network teams.
