Instrument Technician – Safety Instrumented Systems

About the role

Wood is seeking an experienced Instrument Technician to join its Iraq Business Unit on a 6/1 schedule. The role is based on‑site in Basra and focuses on the safe design, implementation, and maintenance of Safety Instrumented Systems (SIS) for a major on‑shore brownfield project.

Key responsibilities

• Install, commission, and maintain field instrumentation across the project site.
• Perform loop checks, calibration, and fault finding on all installed instruments.
• Support control and Safety Instrumented Systems, ensuring compliance with safety standards.
• Prepare and update documentation, including as‑built drawings and inspection reports.
• Collaborate with engineering and operations teams to troubleshoot and resolve instrumentation issues.

Required profile

• Proven experience as an Instrument Technician in oil & gas or related industrial environments.
• Ability to work full‑time on‑site with occasional travel as required.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety.
