Head of Sub‑Office (Erbil)

About the role

Under the direct supervision of the Chief of Mission, the Head of Sub‑Office in Erbil acts as IOM’s senior representative in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq, leading coordination, management and operational oversight of IOM activities across the region.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate and manage IOM programmes and strategic engagement in the Kurdistan Region.
• Provide operational support to field coordination beyond the KRI and collaborate with the nationwide Head of Sub‑Office.
• Ensure harmonised operational approaches, effective information flow and mission‑wide coherence with IOM policies and priorities.
• Oversee programme enabling functions such as Information Management Systems, Cash‑Based Interventions, infrastructure, data‑tracking matrix and research activities.

Required profile

• Senior‑level experience in migration, humanitarian or development programmes.
• Proven leadership and coordination abilities in a multicultural environment.
• Willingness to work under the Chief of Mission and represent IOM at senior levels.
• Fluency in English; knowledge of the Kurdistan Region is an advantage.
