General Accountant

About the role

Join our professional accounting team in Basra as a General Accountant. You will play a vital role in ensuring accurate financial records, compliance with tax regulations, and supporting the overall financial health of the company.

Key responsibilities

• Process and record company expenses, including monthly depreciation of fixed assets and prepaid expenses.
• Monitor tax obligations and maintain accurate records for tax return preparation.
• Deposit cash daily and create reports on cash transactions and collections.
• Process payments on an accrual basis, ensuring bills and staff reimbursements are handled accurately.
• Assist the Senior Accountant with monthly and yearly budgeting, analysis, and other accounting operations.
• Manage cash receipts, revenue recording, and receivables reconciliation with the sales department.
• Perform daily archiving of financial documents and ensure up‑to‑date transaction processing.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Economics.
• Minimum of 2 years of relevant accounting experience.
• Thorough knowledge of basic accounting procedures and familiarity with financial statements.
• Fluency in both English and Arabic.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Access.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook.
