Field Medical Advisor – Rare Diseases (Iraq)

About the role

The Field Medical Advisor will execute the Medical Affairs Plan for rare diseases in Iraq, providing scientific support for AstraZeneca products and building strong scientific partnerships with healthcare professionals and key external experts. This role contributes to the medical strategy through scientific exchange, evidence generation, and actionable insights that improve patient care.

Key responsibilities

• Engage in scientific exchange with HCPs, KEEs, and other stakeholders in line with medical objectives.
• Maintain deep clinical and scientific expertise in the rare disease area, AstraZeneca products, emerging therapies, and the competitive landscape.
• Build and sustain scientific relationships with HCPs, KEEs, and healthcare institutions to support ongoing dialogue.
• Support the development and execution of the Field Medical Strategic Plan and provide scientific support to internal and external stakeholders.
• Organise and facilitate scientific meetings, symposiums, advisory boards, and other non‑promotional medical activities.
• Support evidence‑generation activities, including clinical studies, investigator‑sponsored research, publications, and collaborations with Clinical Research Operations.
• Gather and communicate actionable insights from the external medical environment to inform product and clinical development strategies.
• Leverage digital tools and innovative approaches to enable scientific exchange and patient‑centric solutions.

Required profile

• Strong clinical and scientific background in rare diseases or related therapeutic areas.
• Proven ability to engage and build relationships with healthcare professionals and key external experts.
• Experience supporting evidence‑generation activities such as clinical studies or investigator‑sponsored research.
• Ability to translate scientific insights into actionable medical strategies.
