Electronic Technician II – ATC Communications

About the role

The Electronic Technician II will maintain and repair a variety of air traffic control (ATC) communication radios and related electronic equipment, ensuring continuous, reliable operation of ATC facilities. This position requires hands‑on troubleshooting, preventive maintenance, and support for both radio and VSAT systems.

Key responsibilities

• Perform preventive maintenance and system repairs on ATC radios, voice switches, land‑mobile radios and communications switches.
• Inspect equipment at scheduled intervals, replace defective components, and document all actions.
• Execute COMSEC procedures, conduct operational checks, and maintain inspection and maintenance records.
• Provide troubleshooting and technical support for IT systems at designated locations.
• Maintain Facilities Status Records (e.g., AFTO 499, 512, 214).
• Verify METNAV and integrated system parameters against technical orders and manuals.
• Perform preventive maintenance, component replacement, and network configuration on ATC VSAT equipment.

Required profile

• High school diploma or GED; completion of a DoD or FAA electronics/industrial course or accredited correspondence program.
• Minimum of 2 years experience in electronics repair, maintenance and testing of ATC communication systems.
• Ability to obtain additional computer security certifications as required.
• Valid driver’s license with manual transmission capability and willingness to travel on short notice.
