Electrical Technician

About the role

The Electrical Technician ensures the safe, reliable, and continuous operation of all electrical systems and production‑line equipment in a chips manufacturing plant. Working closely with the Production and Maintenance teams, the technician performs preventive and corrective maintenance, troubleshoots faults, and supports the Maintenance Manager in minimizing downtime.

Key responsibilities

• Perform preventive, corrective and emergency electrical maintenance on machinery such as motors, pumps, conveyors, compressors, control panels and distribution boards.
• Troubleshoot electrical faults, identify root causes and replace faulty components, cables, sensors, switches, contactors and relays.
• Provide immediate electrical support during production line breakdowns, ensuring safe restart of equipment.
• Maintain and troubleshoot control circuits, VFDs/inverters, PLCs, and various sensors (proximity, photoelectric, temperature, limit switches).
• Read and interpret electrical drawings, wiring diagrams and control schematics.
• Support factory electrical infrastructure including MCC panels, DBs, starters, transformers, generators, ATS, UPS and utility systems (HVAC, pumps, compressors).
• Monitor equipment performance, record maintenance actions and report abnormalities such as overheating, noise, voltage fluctuations or excessive current.

Required skills

• Electrical maintenance and troubleshooting in an industrial setting
• Repair of motors, pumps, conveyors, compressors and control panels
• Experience with VFDs/inverters and basic PLC troubleshooting
• Knowledge of sensors (proximity, photoelectric, temperature, limit switches)
• Ability to read electrical drawings, wiring diagrams and control schematics
• Maintenance of MCC panels, distribution boards, starters, transformers, generators, ATS and UPS systems
