Education Officer (NO-2), Temporary Appointment, Baghdad

About the role

UNICEF is recruiting an Education Officer (National Officer level 2) for a temporary appointment of 364 days in Baghdad, Iraq. Working under the supervision of the Chief of Education, the officer provides technical, operational and administrative support to education programmes and projects in the Country Programme, from planning to delivery of results. The position is open only to Iraqi nationals.

Key responsibilities

• Support programme development and planning
• Manage, monitor and deliver the results of the EU-ITALEEM project
• Provide technical and operational support to the implementation of the ITALEEM project
• Build networks and partnerships
• Contribute to innovation, knowledge management and capacity building under the EU-ITALEEM project

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in education, psychology, sociology or another relevant technical field
• At least two years of professional experience in programme planning, management and/or research in education
• Fluent English and Arabic
• Knowledge of another official UN language or a local language is an asset; experience in a developing country, a UN agency or country-level development work is also an asset

The role covers system strengthening, expanding equitable access to quality learning in formal, non-formal and early childhood education, and improving learning outcomes and skills development. Candidates must pass reference, safeguarding and background checks, obtain medical clearance, and hold a visa issued by the host country.
