Education Officer (Fixed-Term) – Basrah, Iraq

About the role

The Education Officer will support UNICEF’s education programmes in Iraq, from planning through delivery and evaluation. Reporting to the Chief of Field Office, the role combines technical, operational and administrative tasks to ensure high‑quality education services for children in Basrah and surrounding areas.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in the development and planning of education programmes aligned with the Country Programme.
• Manage programme implementation, monitoring progress and ensuring timely delivery of results.
• Provide technical support on curriculum, early childhood education, non‑formal learning and education in emergencies.
• Coordinate with partners, NGOs and government bodies to strengthen networks and partnerships.
• Contribute to innovation, knowledge management and capacity‑building initiatives.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Education, Psychology, Sociology or related field.
• Minimum 2 years of experience in education programme management, humanitarian assistance or related areas.
• Fluency in English and Arabic.
• Open to Iraqi nationals only.
