Community Relation Officer (CLO) – Onsite

About the role

The Community Relation Officer (CLO) will build and sustain trusting relationships between the CSSP‑WIP Project and the surrounding local communities. This onsite position focuses on fostering dialogue, understanding community needs, and supporting project acceptance.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and maintain strong working relationships with community members and local leaders.
• Act as the primary point of contact for community inquiries, concerns, and feedback.
• Facilitate mediation and conflict resolution between the project team and community stakeholders.
• Provide clear and accurate information about project activities, timelines, and impacts.
• Monitor and report on community sentiment, issues, and engagement outcomes.
• Collaborate with project staff to ensure community considerations are integrated into project planning.

Required profile

• Proven experience in community relations or similar stakeholder engagement roles.
• High level of interpersonal skills with strong verbal and written communication abilities.
• Empathetic approach to sensitive cultural, personal, and community issues.
• Demonstrated mediation and conflict‑resolution capabilities.
• Knowledge of the local language and cultural context.
• Ability to work under pressure with minimal supervision.
• Strong negotiation and information‑disclosure skills.
• Understanding of the economic, political, and social dynamics of the operating area.
• Excellent reporting and documentation skills.
• Diligent, meticulous, and self‑motivated.
