Commercial Development Lead – Northern Iraq

About the role

The Commercial Development Lead (CDL) will act as GTI’s dedicated commercial representative in Northern Iraq, driving the execution of GTI’s commercial strategy in close partnership with the appointed distributor. Based in Sulaimani, the role involves extensive travel across the KRG, Mosul and Kirkuk regions to strengthen distributor capabilities, expand distribution, and ensure market execution aligns with GTI’s strategic objectives.

Key responsibilities

• Execute GTI’s commercial strategy and annual business plan within the Iraqi market.
• Identify growth opportunities across channels, regions and customer segments and develop market‑specific action plans.
• Monitor market trends, regulatory developments and competitive activities to spot opportunities and risks.
• Support launch of new products and commercial initiatives in coordination with headquarters.
• Build and maintain strong day‑to‑day relationships with distributor teams, conducting regular business reviews.
• Track implementation of commercial initiatives, follow up on actions and act as primary communication channel between GTI and the distributor.
• Conduct market visits, evaluate route‑to‑market effectiveness and recommend improvements to sales coverage.
• Monitor product availability, distribution across wholesalers and retail channels, and improve numeric and weighted distribution.
• Oversee trade‑marketing execution, merchandising standards, POS deployment and retail audits.
• Monitor portfolio performance and pricing management across the market.

Required profile

• Proven experience executing commercial strategy in the Iraqi market or similar emerging markets.
• Demonstrated ability to build strong relationships with distributor teams and manage joint business reviews.
• Willingness to travel up to 70% domestically across Northern Iraq.
• Strong analytical skills to monitor market trends, regulatory changes and competitive activity.
