Chief Medical Officer – Iraq

About the role

The Chief Medical Officer will provide medical oversight, direction, and leadership for all healthcare activities on a project located at an Iraqi military base. This senior role supports a diverse workforce that includes US Government personnel, US and foreign nationals, local employees, and Iraqi military staff.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee, supervise and manage the operation of all medical services and personnel.
• Provide leadership and accountability for the operational effectiveness of medical services delivered on the project.
• Lead quality development and clinical governance, including code of conduct, medical record keeping, infection control standards, emergency response preparedness, and patient safety.
• Chair the Medical Executive Committee (MEC) with monthly meetings and ensure minutes are uploaded to SharePoint.
• Oversee additional committees such as Pharmacy & Therapeutics, Credentialing and Privileging, Peer Review, and Infection Control, ensuring regular reporting to the MEC.
• Ensure monthly peer review of medical charts is performed and results are uploaded to SharePoint.
