Buyer & Supply Chain Specialist

About the role

PEG is an international engineering and contracting company with more than fifty years of experience in process design, engineering solutions and project management for Oil & Gas, power generation and renewables. The Buyer Specialist is responsible for procuring goods, equipment, materials and general services needed to support EPC Oil & Gas operations in Iraq, ensuring timely, cost-effective and compliant purchasing in line with project requirements, company procedures, client specifications and local regulations.

Key responsibilities

• Manage the full procurement cycle from purchase requisition to purchase order issuance.
• Source and evaluate suppliers and subcontractors, obtain commercial quotations and conduct negotiations on cost, quality, delivery and service.
• Prepare bid tabulations, commercial evaluations and supplier selection recommendations, then issue purchase orders and service agreements.
• Monitor supplier performance, delivery schedules and contractual commitments, and coordinate with Engineering, Construction, Logistics, Warehouse and Project Controls.
• Procure indirect services such as accommodation, transportation, facility management, cleaning, security, office supplies, IT equipment and maintenance.
• Maintain an approved vendor database, assess supplier capabilities and HSE performance, and build relationships with local and international suppliers.
• Ensure procurement complies with company policies, client requirements, ethical standards and Iraqi regulations, keep accurate records of purchase orders, contracts and quotations, and support audits and compliance reviews.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Engineering, Economics or a related field.
• Minimum 5 years of procurement experience, preferably in EPC, Oil & Gas, Energy, Construction or industrial projects.
• Experience in remote project locations or international environments is highly desirable; previous experience in Iraq or the Middle East is a strong asset.
• Fluent English, written and spoken.

Required skills

• Knowledge of contract management principles.
• Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
