Airfield Safety Manager

About the role
The Airfield Safety Manager will be based in Balad, Iraq and will serve as the primary safety officer for the airfield and all associated air transport services. This self‑directed role requires developing, implementing, and maintaining a comprehensive safety program in line with Army, Federal, and local regulations.
Key responsibilities
- Establish and manage a regional airfield (AAF) and heliport (AHP) safety program according to AR‑95‑2 and senior authority SOPs.
- Develop and maintain pre‑accident, wildlife hazard, FOD prevention, and risk‑management plans.
- Conduct regular inspections, audits, and hazard‑tracking activities, reporting findings to senior management.
- Coordinate with subcontracted aviation services (COCO and GOCO) to ensure compliance and corrective actions.
- Maintain accurate airfield safety databases and prepare required corporate reports.
- Allocate resources for training, personal protective equipment, and budget planning.
Required profile
- Proven experience in airfield or heliport safety management, preferably in a military environment.
- In‑depth knowledge of Federal, Local, and Army safety regulations and AR‑95‑2.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Strong analytical and reporting skills.
