Firefighter

About the role

The Firefighter will be based in Balad, Iraq, supporting V2X’s mission-critical operations. Working under the supervision of Firefighter Crew Chiefs, you will respond to a variety of emergencies, operate fire‑suppression equipment, and ensure safety standards are met.

Key responsibilities

• Respond to fire and rescue incidents, operating pumps, foam generators, turrets, and nozzles.
• Maintain vehicles, equipment, tools, and protective clothing in serviceable condition.
• Conduct fire inspections, pre‑incident planning, and evidence preservation at fire scenes.
• Operate digital fire alarm receiving systems and two‑way radio communications equipment.
• Ensure emergency equipment complies with NFPA or other industry standards and is ready for use.
• Perform regular proficiency training, on‑the‑job training, and maintain required certifications.

Required profile

• Physically fit and able to work in hazardous environments.
• Valid firefighting certifications and ability to obtain additional required credentials.
• Experience working as part of a fire crew, rescue unit, ladder truck, engine company, water tender, or airport ARFF apparatus.
• Commitment to safety, environmental, health, and quality assurance standards.
• Willingness to perform administrative duties such as equipment accountability and maintenance scheduling.

Required skills

• Operation of fire pumps and foam generators.
• Use of fire turrets, nozzles, and related suppression tools.
• Management of digital fire alarm receiving equipment.
• Two‑way radio communications proficiency.
• Knowledge of NFPA standards and fire‑service documentation.
