Airfield Safety Manager

About the role

The Airfield Safety Manager will lead the safety program for the airfield and all air transport services at Balad, Iraq. This self‑starting professional works independently to develop, implement, and continuously improve the Army airfield safety program.

Key responsibilities

• Establish and maintain a regional airfield (AAF) and heliport (AHP) management program in line with AR‑95‑2 and senior authority SOPs.
• Develop and oversee pre‑accident plans, wildlife hazard management, flight‑line driving training, and foreign object damage (FOD) prevention programs.
• Conduct risk assessments, hazard tracking, and regular AAF/AHP inspections.
• Prepare and present reports to senior management, regulators, and area managers, ensuring data accuracy and compliance.
• Identify non‑compliance issues, recommend corrective actions, and track remediation to completion.
• Allocate resources, including PPE and budget, to support safety initiatives and training activities.

Required profile

• Versatile, self‑motivated individual capable of working with minimal supervision.
• In‑depth knowledge of Federal, Local, and Army airfield safety regulations and practices.
• Proven ability to manage complex safety programs and coordinate with subcontracted aviation services.
• Strong written and oral communication skills for interaction with senior professionals and regulators.
