Advocacy and Communications Specialist

About the role

World Vision Iraq is looking for an Advocacy and Communications Specialist on a local fixed-term contract. The role gives strategic leadership and technical guidance on advocacy and communications for the Response/National Office, covering donor and public engagement, media relations, social media, and staff capacity building.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and lead the communications and visibility plan, and produce evidence-based fundraising, advocacy and publicity materials (digital, print and video) for donors and the public, in-country and internationally.
• Edit and produce video content and design visual materials such as social media assets, graphics, publications and presentations in line with World Vision brand standards.
• Support media relations: host partner resource visits, gather field content during emergencies, build field staff capacity on storytelling and consent, and lead media contacts with country, regional and international outlets.
• Develop and run the social media plan, monitor national media and use Cision for media tracking.
• Work with the Senior Leadership team on advocacy strategy, annual implementation plans and regional/global advocacy campaigns, and collaborate with Business Development, Government Relations and Technical Managers on donor and corporate engagement.
• Manage a network of freelancers, support innovation and digitisation, and build staff capacity through training on advocacy and communication.

Required profile

• Degree in journalism, radio-TV, communications or a related field.
• Demonstrated experience developing communications content and producing publications, multimedia, websites, photo and video reports and social media.
• Ability to travel and work in the field, and to work in difficult, insecure and rapidly changing conditions.
• Cross-cultural communication skills; experience or familiarity with marketing departments is an asset.
