Accountant – Financial Reporting & Compliance

About the role

AccorHotel is seeking a detail‑oriented Accountant to join its Baghdad team. You will manage financial records, prepare accurate statements, and ensure compliance with Iraqi accounting regulations and tax requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare, record, and maintain financial transactions in line with GAAP and IFRS.
• Reconcile bank statements, general ledger, and subsidiary ledgers, identifying discrepancies.
• Prepare and review financial statements, reports, and schedules for management and external stakeholders.
• Assist in tax return preparation and maintain audit documentation.
• Manage accounts payable and receivable, including invoice processing and payment reconciliation.
• Support annual audit processes and implement internal controls.
• Utilize accounting software and ERP systems for transaction processing and reporting.
• Collaborate with other departments to gather financial information and resolve issues.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• Minimum 5 years of progressive accounting or financial management experience.
• Strong organizational, time‑management, and analytical skills.
• Excellent communication in English; Arabic is highly valued.

Required skills

• Proficiency with accounting software and ERP systems.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel and financial modeling.
• Strong knowledge of GAAP and IFRS standards.
• Experience with Iraqi accounting regulations, tax laws, and compliance.
• Expertise in financial analysis, reporting, variance analysis, and internal controls.
