Disposal Yard Specialist

About the role

The Disposal Yard Specialist will work at Amentum BEC in Baghdad, supporting the Base Life Support Services contract for the U.S. State Department. The role focuses on safe disposal, inventory management, and equipment transfer operations within a high‑security environment.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain a safe workplace and comply with all Environmental Health & Safety and Quality Assurance requirements.
• Update and ensure accuracy of the equipment inventory database, processing excess turn‑in documentation for controlled and non‑controlled items.
• Review, reconcile, and process all inventory transactions, including survey reports for missing equipment.
• Coordinate equipment transfers and handle disposal of surplus assets.
• Communicate effectively with internal and external customers, providing required documentation and support.

Required profile

• Minimum three years’ experience supporting a DOD or DOS program.
• At least two years of international work experience.
• Proven experience in property disposal operations, preferably with Defense Reutilization Management Operations (DRMO) and Hazmat handling.
• Ability to operate heavy equipment and cutting tools safely.
• Strong organizational, time‑management and cross‑cultural communication skills.

Required skills

• Operation of 30K Forklift, extended‑reach Forklift, material handler, grappler (excavator), front‑end loader and material shredders.
• Use of plasma cutters and other cutting torches.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel.
