Senior NAVAIDS Technician – Balad, Iraq

About the role

Versar Global Solutions is seeking a Senior NAVAIDS Technician to support 24/7 aviation operations at Balad Air Base, Iraq. The role ensures safe, efficient, and compliant airfield operations by maintaining mission‑critical navigation aid systems.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain, inspect, troubleshoot, calibrate, repair, and certify NAVAIDS systems such as ILS, VOR, TACAN, DME, NDB and airfield beacons.
• Perform preventive and corrective maintenance in line with FAA, ICAO, DoD, OEM and contract requirements.
• Conduct diagnostics, performance testing, alignment, calibration and fault isolation of equipment and subsystems.
• Analyze schematics, wiring diagrams and manuals to resolve system deficiencies.
• Execute system commissioning, acceptance testing and operational verification after maintenance.
• Maintain detailed maintenance records, inspection reports and configuration documentation.
• Coordinate with Airfield Management, Operations, ATC and other stakeholders.
• Provide technical guidance to junior technicians and respond to emergency outages.

Required profile

• U.S. citizenship.
• Valid driver’s license and passport with at least 12 months validity from deployment date.
• Ability to meet all medical screening requirements.
• Fluent English (read, write, speak).
• Computer proficiency for operating relevant software.

Required skills

• Experience with ILS, VOR, TACAN, DME, NDB and airfield beacon systems.
• Navigation aid calibration and troubleshooting.
• Knowledge of FAA, ICAO and DoD maintenance standards.
• Electrical safety and Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures.
