Senior Instrument and Telecommunication Engineer

About the role

Geo-Jade Petroleum is looking for an experienced Iraqi Senior Instrument and Telecommunication Engineer with at least 10 years of oil & gas experience. The position is based in Basra and works daily or on a rotation basis with the Facilities & Construction team.

Key responsibilities

• Review and approve critical instrument and telecommunication deliverables from PMC/EPC contractors, including process design basis, PFDs, P&IDs, GA drawings, plot plans, 3D models, instrument datasheets, and shutdown philosophy.
• Ensure designs comply with company specifications, international codes (API, IEEE, ITU, NFPA, ISO, ISA) and Iraqi authority requirements.
• Represent the company in Process Hazard Analyses (HAZID, HAZOP, SIL, LOPA, F&G Mapping) and track recommendation close‑out.
• Lead technical studies, alternatives, and debottlenecking analyses for existing facilities.
• Provide engineering support during construction, pre‑commissioning, commissioning and performance testing, including review of procedures and witnessing key tests.
• Review and approve engineering change requests, technical queries and site deviation requests.
• Monitor PMC and EPC contractor performance through meetings, deliverable reviews and site inspections.
• Coordinate with internal teams such as Operations, Maintenance, HSE, IT, Process, Civil, Electrical and Pipeline.

Required profile

• Iraqi nationality.
• Minimum 10 years of solid oil & gas experience in instrumentation and telecommunications.
• Proven senior‑level expertise in design review, compliance assurance and process safety management.

Required skills

• Control valve sizing and selection.
• Flowmeter and field instrument expertise.
• Analyzers, pipeline leak detection systems, custody transfer metering skid.
• Microwave wireless signal mapping.
• Integrated Control and Safety System (ICSS).
• Fiber optic network design.
• CCTV, Access Control System (ACS), building fire alarm systems, PAGA.
• 3D modelling and instrument datasheet preparation.
• Knowledge of API, IEEE, ITU, NFPA, ISO, ISA standards.
• Process Hazard Analysis techniques (HAZID, HAZOP, SIL, LOPA, F&G Mapping).
