Protection Assistant – General X5

About the role

The Protection Assistant – General X5 will support the Danish Refugee Council’s protection programme across multiple locations in Iraq. The role focuses on delivering community‑based protection activities, case management, and violence‑against‑women and men interventions for displaced families, returnees and host communities.

Key responsibilities

• Identify individuals in need of protection and ensure timely case management response.
• Provide case management services following DRC Iraq SOPs, including intake, assessment, planning, implementation, follow‑up and closure.
• Document all case activities while respecting information‑management principles.
• Deliver psychosocial support throughout the case management process.
• Conduct mobile intake visits, referrals and regular field follow‑ups.
• Facilitate community consultations, focus group discussions and awareness sessions using validated DRC materials.
• Participate in supervision, coaching sessions and protection monitoring, raising concerns to the Protection Officer.

Required profile

• Relevant experience in protection, case management or humanitarian assistance.
• Ability to work with diverse groups (youth, adults, older persons, persons with disabilities).
• Strong understanding of protection principles and confidentiality standards.
• Willingness to travel frequently to field locations across Iraq.
