Accounting Manager

About the role

Ezma Holding seeks an experienced Accounting Manager to lead the finance function within its fast‑paced FMCG and retail operations in Erbil. The role involves overseeing the full accounting cycle, ensuring compliance with IFRS and local GAAP, and building a high‑performing team that delivers accurate financial results under pressure.

Key responsibilities

• Coach, mentor, and develop a team of accountants, setting clear expectations and a high bar for performance.
• Dynamically manage workloads and align the team with shifting business priorities.
• Create a collaborative, growth‑oriented culture.
• Oversee the full accounts payable cycle, from purchase order matching to payment runs, ensuring accuracy and timely resolution.
• Manage accounts receivable, including invoicing, collections, credit control, and proactive aging management.
• Own the general ledger, reviewing and approving journal entries, accruals, prepayments, and reclassifications each month.
• Control the fixed assets register, handling additions, disposals, depreciation runs, and periodic physical verifications.
• Manage intercompany transactions and reconciliations across entities or branches.
• Lead month‑end and year‑end close processes, delivering accurate results on time.
• Maintain a strong internal control environment and ensure regulatory compliance.
• Drive continuous improvement of accounting policies and processes.
• Collaborate cross‑functionally with operations, HR, and executive leadership.

Required profile

• 7–10 years of progressive accounting experience, with 3–5 years in a leadership role.
• Proven ability to develop and manage teams in fast‑changing environments.
• Hands‑on experience across the full accounting cycle, including AP, AR, GL, payroll, fixed assets, and bank reconciliations.
• Strong knowledge of IFRS, local GAAP, and regulatory compliance requirements.
• Experience with ERP systems such as SAP, Oracle, or QuickBooks.
• Ability to make quick, sound decisions under pressure and own outcomes.
• Excellent communication skills across all organizational levels.
