International Consultant – Development of the Iraq National Migration Profile

About the role

The International Organization for Migration (IOM) seeks an experienced International Consultant to lead the development of the Iraq National Migration Profile. The role involves technical support for compiling and analysing migration data, and producing a comprehensive, government‑owned reference document.

Key responsibilities

• Support the compilation and analysis of quantitative and qualitative migration‑related data from multiple Iraqi and international sources.
• Prepare a comprehensive Migration Profile report covering trends, governance, policies, and migration‑development linkages.
• Identify data gaps and provide practical recommendations to strengthen migration governance and evidence‑based policymaking.
• Coordinate with IOM, Government of Iraq institutions, KRG entities, UN agencies, academia, and civil society as required.

Required profile

• Master’s degree in Migration Studies, Statistics, Social Sciences, International Relations, Political Science, Development Studies or related field.
• Minimum 10 years of professional experience in migration research, data/statistics and policy, preferably with large‑scale, policy‑oriented projects.
• Proven experience collaborating with government and/or international organisations.

Required skills

• Strong analytical and writing abilities.
• In‑depth knowledge of migration data systems.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder‑engagement skills.
• Fluency in English (written); Arabic knowledge is an asset.
