HR Specialist – Baghdad, Iraq

About the role

Abwaab is seeking a proactive and detail‑oriented HR Specialist to manage end‑to‑end HR operations in its Baghdad office. You will support the full employee lifecycle, ensuring compliance with Iraqi labour law and alignment with business objectives.

Key responsibilities

• Partner with hiring managers to understand workforce needs and execute full‑cycle recruitment.
• Manage onboarding and off‑boarding processes, including documentation and system updates.
• Serve as the first point of contact for employee inquiries, support conflict resolution, and promote a positive work environment.
• Ensure compliance with Iraqi labour regulations, handle social security and residency documentation, and maintain audit‑ready records.
• Oversee daily HR administration, maintain accurate employee records, contracts, and HR documentation.
• Validate employee data for payroll, coordinate with finance and payroll vendors, and administer benefits.
• Support performance management cycles, policy communication, and identify training needs.
• Manage relationships with external vendors such as insurance, payroll, and recruitment agencies.

Required profile

• Proactive, detail‑oriented professional with strong organisational skills.
• Experience managing the full employee lifecycle in a fast‑growing environment.
• In‑depth knowledge of Iraqi labour law and government HR requirements.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities to handle employee relations.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information.
