GBV Policy & Advocacy Technical Advisor

About the role

The GBV Policy & Advocacy Technical Advisor will provide technical expertise and leadership for SEED’s policy and advocacy work on gender equality and combating gender‑based violence in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct research on gender equality deficits and GBV, analyse laws, regulations and international frameworks, and identify gaps in prevention and response.
• Design and execute advocacy, technical assistance and capacity‑building initiatives to achieve legislative and regulatory reform and strengthen protection systems.
• Lead or participate in sector coordination mechanisms, represent SEED with KRG and other stakeholders, and develop strategic partnerships.
• Support program design, monitoring and evaluation, and contribute to the development and delivery of GBV trainings and public‑awareness messaging.

Required profile

• Master’s degree in social work, public policy, gender studies, law, international development, human rights or related field.
• At least five years of international development/humanitarian experience in GBV programming, including senior technical or programmatic roles.
• Proven experience working with government actors to achieve institutional change and familiarity with UN‑led cluster coordination.
• Strong belief in gender equality and human rights, excellent leadership and project management skills, and high standard of spoken and written English (Arabic/Kurdish a plus).
