Associate Dean for Academic Affairs, College of Engineering

About the role

The American University of Iraq – Baghdad (AUIB) is seeking an experienced academic leader to serve as Associate Dean for Academic Affairs within the College of Engineering. Reporting to the Dean, the Associate Dean will translate strategic direction into executable program schedules and quality processes across five engineering degree programs.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain current program specifications, syllabi, and learning outcomes in compliance with ABET EAC criteria.
• Lead the Continuous Quality Improvement cycle, collect assessment data, compile outcome reports, identify curricular gaps and draft action plans.
• Chair the College Curriculum Committee, manage new course proposals, modifications, and credit‑load changes, and present recommendations to the Dean.
• Produce fall, spring and summer course offering plans, assign instructors, build the master timetable, and manage room and laboratory allocations.
• Monitor section enrollments, manage waitlists and resolve scheduling conflicts promptly.
• Prepare and maintain the ABET self‑study documentation package under the Dean’s oversight.

Required profile

• Primary faculty appointment at AUIB with rank commensurate with qualifications and academic record.
• Proven experience in academic administration, curriculum management and accreditation processes.
• Strong knowledge of ABET accreditation standards and continuous improvement practices.
• Ability to coordinate across multiple engineering programs and work collaboratively with department chairs.
• Commitment to academic quality and student success.
