Trade Finance L/C Officer – Iraq Branch

About the role

The Trade Finance L/C Officer will manage all aspects of Letters of Credit (L/C) operations for our Iraq branch. You will ensure smooth processing of L/C issuance, amendments, advising, and settlement while maintaining strict compliance with international standards and local regulations.

Key responsibilities

• Handle L/C issuance, amendments, advising, and settlement processes.
• Review, audit, and verify shipping and trade documents against UCP 600 and ISBP 745.
• Coordinate with correspondent banks and internal departments to facilitate transactions.
• Process inward and outward Bills for Collection in line with trade finance best practices.
• Ensure compliance with Central Bank regulations, internal policies, and AML requirements.
• Monitor shipment dates, expiry dates, and all L/C lifecycle activities.
• Prepare periodic reports on trade finance transactions and operational performance.
• Resolve document discrepancies by communicating with relevant parties.
• Maintain accurate filing and documentation for all trade finance activities.
• Provide support to clients and branches on trade finance inquiries.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration or a related field.
• 1‑3 years of experience in trade finance or letters of credit operations.
• Strong knowledge of UCP 600, ISBP 745 and Incoterms.
• Experience handling Bills for Collection (both inward and outward).
