Senior Cost Engineer

About the role

Kent is seeking a Senior Cost Engineer to join the owner/operator project delivery team in Basra, Iraq. You will be responsible for the financial health of major oil and gas capital projects, overseeing cost control, budgeting, and forecasting activities.

Key responsibilities

• Track, analyse and manage daily, weekly and monthly project expenditures against approved budgets.
• Monitor overall cost performance and implement corrective actions when needed.
• Manage change control processes and ensure accurate cost impact assessments.
• Prepare and present financial reports that comply with international joint‑venture and asset‑owner standards.
• Support budgeting and forecasting cycles for large‑scale capital projects.
• Collaborate with project teams to ensure financial governance and risk mitigation.

Required profile

• Significant experience in cost engineering or cost control within oil and gas capital projects.
• Strong understanding of budgeting, forecasting and financial reporting standards.
• Proven ability to manage change orders and maintain cost discipline.
• Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to work effectively in a multicultural, high‑performance environment.
