Project Officer

About the role

Tearfund is looking for a proactive Project Officer to join its Iraq team in Basra. The role supports high‑quality project implementation, partner collaboration and compliance monitoring in line with Tearfund’s Country Strategy for Iraq.

Key responsibilities

• Collaborate with consortium partners, the Programme Quality Director and the Project Manager to design, assess and monitor projects.
• Support day‑to‑day project coordination, partner engagement, compliance checks and monitoring activities.
• Contribute to strategic planning, capacity development, budgeting, reporting and M&E throughout the project cycle.
• Engage a variety of stakeholders, share learning and ensure gender and diversity considerations are integrated.
• Develop communication and media materials to promote project outcomes.

Required profile

• A degree or equivalent experience in development, social sciences or a related humanitarian field.
• Minimum three years of progressively responsible experience in project support, coordination or humanitarian/development work.
• Demonstrated experience with Prevention of Violence against Women and Girls projects.
• Proven project‑cycle management experience, including planning, budgeting, reporting and M&E.
• Fluency in Arabic and English, with strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Experience working with international humanitarian organisations and, preferably, within a consortium.
• Ability to work effectively in a multicultural, multilingual and multidisciplinary environment.
